Prabhakaran K.
Born in Calicut, Kerala. B.A.Economics & History from Malabar Christian College, Calicut. B.A. Post Diploma in Painting. MS University, Faculty of Fine arts Baroda.
1987 formed artists collective “Indian Radical Painters and sculptors Association and organized 3 major exhibitions (Baroda 87, Calicut 89, Thrissur 90). Participated in the exhibition titled “Alekhya Darshan” along with 7 other painters and sculptors from India at Centre Art Contemporain Palais Wilson, Geneva.
- Participated in an artists’ camp, Ponmudi along with Bhupen Khakar, Sudhir Patawardhan, Manu Parekh, R.B.Bhaskar, S.G. Vasudev. Organzied by Kerala Lalithakala Academy.
1993. Solo exhibition of paintings drawings and graphics at Nandan Art Gallery, Santiniketan, West Bengal.
- Solo exhibition of paintings and drawings titled “Faith in the age of disbelief” curated by Anshuman Das Gupta, Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda.
- Ministry of HRD Senior fellowship in the field of visual art for the period of 2 years.
- Participated in the National artists’ camp at Kalabhavan organized by Lalitha Kala Academy, Kolkata.
- “Creative process” major exhibition of contemporary Indian artists curated by Shivaji.
- Kerala state award for painting.
2001 to 2003 Organized 11 shows in Kerala titled “The Great procession”.
2002 to 2004. Worked as an Art Therapist in Shanti Bhavan – A Psycho-social Rehabilitation Centre, Kozhikode.
Kabita Mukhopadhayay :
Born in 24 Paraganas, West Bengal. BF.A in 1992, M.F.A in 1994, Santiniketan, Viswa Bharati, West Bengal.
1996-97 NC Course at MS University, Baroda in MA Art History.
Recipient of national scholarship from HRD, 1993-95. Junior research fellowship, HRD 1998-2000.
Solo show, Faculty of fine arts MSU, Baroda, 1997.
Major group show, “5 young Artists from Santiniketan”, 1992, Birla Academy, Kolkata.
1992 Sate exhibition, Kolkata information centre.
Lecture and demonstration : Kerala History Museum, Kochi, 1993, Kerala Kalapeedm, Kochi, 1993 on Tempera Painting.
1999 the Guild organized a group show of Young Santiniketan, Mumbai.
2001 to 2003 Organized 11 shows under the titled of “The Great Procession” in Kerala.
2001. Kerala Lalithakala Academy sponsored a solo show at Thrissur.
Attached as an illustrator in Satyajit Roy edited ‘Sandesh’ for 14 years. Published articles on art and culture, stories, poetry and comic strips. Edited Kalabhavan students yearly magazine on visual imageries.
Illustrates at Pratidin (Bengali counter part of the Asian Age). India Today (Malayalam), Malayala Manorama, Bhasha Poshini, Madhyamam, Shtree Shabtam, Deshabhimani, Chandrika, Thejas.
Major Publications with paintings and illustrations : Geethanjali, by Rabindra Nath Tagore translated by G.Sankarakurup in Malayalam. Published by D.C.Books.
Indian Short stories by a German : By Martin. Published by Rupa & Co;
2002 – 2004 worked as an Art Therapist in Shanthi Bhavan, a Phsyco-social Rehabilitation Centre, Kozhikode.
