| SPEAKING STONES - A FILM BY JohnyML |
PRODUCTION : DILIP NARAYANAN - CAMERA: RAMACHANDRAN
Year: 2009 - Duration: 36 minutes
‘Speaking Stones’ traces N.N.Rimzon’s aesthetic philosophy through his works and words. Rimzon did his pivotal works like ‘Inner Voice’, ‘Man with Tools’, ‘Far Away from 108 Feet’ and ‘Speaking Stones’ during the most turbulent years in Indian history. ‘Inner Voice’ and ‘Man with Tools’ almost foresaw the rise of religious fundamentalism in India during 1990s. Rimzon critiqued the caste ridden realities of a ‘New’ India through his site specific installation, ‘Far Away from 108 Feet’. ‘Speaking Stones’ was a natural speaking of his philosophical thoughts on politics and aesthetics.
JohnyML, an art critic who has worked closely with Rimzon both in Delhi and in Kerala, captures Rimzon’s life in camera. He does extensive interviews with the artist in this documentary. ‘Speaking Stones’ is JohnyML’s second film.
